A subject guide for the School of Illustration

Caldecott Medal winning books

The Academy of Art Library and the Illustration Department are hosting a joint exhibition of Caldecott Medal winning illustrated children’s books in the Library and in the Illustration Department located at 540 Powell Street. The Caldecott Medal was named in honor of nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. The Academy of Art Library has all eighty-one of these award-winning titles and wanted to bring visibility to this wonderful collection.
